Previous Projects

Margaret River Oval – subsurface drains and irrigation installation simultaneously for the Shire of Augusta / Margaret River. We had to organise a redesign of both drainage & irrigation systems to minimise the number of intersections. Both systems are still operating well today, and the playing surface is vastly improved.

Pinjarra Racecourse – To eliminate large water logged patches on turf running surface, 14,000m subsurface drains installed to Engineers specification for Pinjarra Race Club Inc. Dalton Consulting Engineers designed both earthworks and subsoil drainage systems, with Terry Ilich Consulting Engineers as major contractor. We ordered the new 1012D drainage machine from Mastenbroek England to install some 11,600m of class 1000 pvc draincoil, but due to customs and quarantine holdups, it arrived late at Fremantle. We were able to reconfigure our larger 2620 land drainage machine to install the original contract to specification, then use the new 1012D to install the extra 2,400m of draincoil. All works were completed to the engineers and Pinjarra Turf Club satisfaction, and within time frame.

Dandaragan Town site and oval drainage – This contract for Shire of Dandaragan called for the installations of deep (2m approx.) subsoil drains alongside the highway, bowling club, and football oval, and three drainage sumps to car parks. All drains went in well, to Audax Enterprises specification. Logistics was the main time issue, but with the inclusion into our fleet earlier in 2007 of a new JTB float & Sterling prime mover, we welcomed the challenge.

Dunsborough Oval Reconstruction Stage 1 – Subsurface drains for Shire of Busselton. We enjoyed being part of such a well run project so close to home, and would relish the opportunity to do Stage 2 (read on for stage 2).

Gibbney Reserve – strip drains installed to City of Bayswater specification. Our scope of works was widened on this job to include the carting in and installation of approximately 700 tonnes of Rocla “lawn cream” sand, and the removal of the same amount of waste. Sports Turf Technology’s Ken Johnson was the consultant to the City of Bayswater, and we enjoyed working with him.

Scott Reserve – subsurface drains installed in sports turf for the Shire of Kalamunda. We were asked to design a drainage system for Scott Reserve, which was constructed by “cut and fill” on a sloping site. The earthworks at construction some 20 years ago left less permeable soils exposed by the “cut” on the uphill half of the oval. Because of the small gap between cricket and football seasons, we were given a 3-week window to design, supply and install a drainage system. We achieved this to the Shire of Kalamunda’s satisfaction, well within the timeframe.

Dunsborough Oval stage 2 – A further 7,000m of drains installed.

Pinjarra Racecourse 1000m chute – a further 3,600m of drains installed. Statewide Turf stripped to accurate sub-levels, SWM installed the drains with drainage gravel / aggregate, Statewide Turf placed 300mm of lawn sand over the drains and then laid new sports turf. No geofabrics required.

Halliday Park, Bayswater – We designed, supplied & installed a Subsoil drainage system for the City of Bayswater which included disposal of stormwater from the pavilion roof.

Ascot Racecourse – We were asked to design a method of installing draincoil into an existing bed of drainage gravel 150mm thick, & 350 below the surface, with minimal turf disturbance – which we achieved to Perth Racing’s satisfaction.

South Yunderup Oval – 3,500m of Sportsturf Drainage installed for the Shire of Murray.

Vasse Precinct Oval – 3,000m of Sportsturf drains for the City of Busselton.

Dardanup Oval.
